My name is Laura Chambers and I am the founder of On the Doorstep. I manage and create mostly everything you see from the magazine, to the directory and social media.
In my previous life (before children) I was an Event Director in London, three years ago when our first child came along, I decided to become a stay at home mum and now with two children, I haven’t looked back.
As a stay at home mum I have struggled with not working and that’s how On the Doorstep was born. As I was taking my children to lots of classes and activities, I thought how great it would be for mums in Kent to have a central place to go to find out everything they need locally to them from pregnancy and throughout motherhood.
Hi my name is Kelly, I am married with 2 small children. I am a Speech and Language Therapist and also run a parenting blog called Fun with 1 Plus 1. I have been married for almost 5 years, but together 11 years. My children are currently 2 and 3 and are almost exactly 1 year apart. My 3 year old is due to start school in September, which i am totally not prepared for. The children take up most of my time but when able to I enjoy kickboxing, reading and baking. We also have a English Bulldog called called Arthur.
We have been living with my parents for the past two years while we renovate our house. We have just recently moved in, although there is still lots of jobs to be done.
I work at my day job for 3 days a week, which i really enjoy. I get to work with a range of adults with different communication needs. Life is busy and non stop with 2 small children. But we love family days, beach trips, park visits and generally being outdoors. I started writing my blog when my little Bear was born, as i found my self in an unusual situation with a 11 month old and a new born baby. I generally blog about general life, days out, house renovation and anything else that crops up along the way
Kentish Mummy is an adventure loving outdoorsy nature orientated blog by Amanda Evans. The focus is on all things fun from a Mum of two toddlers’ perspective. Kentish Mummy loves nothing better than exploring the great outdoors in all weather, come rain or shine, we always find something to entertain us.
Amanda is a 40 something Mum, a big kid at heart and an adrenalin junkie. Originally from South Africa, Amanda loves nothing better than packing a picnic and going on adventures and exploring with the children.
Chloe is 4 years old and enjoys spending time in the great outdoors, learning about animals and all things nature (big and small), along with drawing, crafting and mud kitchens (legendary mud pies and perfumer extraordinaire)!
Jake is 3 years old and a bundle of enthusiasm. Diggers and dirt are his most happy place and he is a whiz on his balance bike. Jake loves train spotting, hunting for bug and getting up to mischief.
Hello I’m Keri Lee – otherwise known as Lits – and I’m a 40 (something!) single parent to my ‘tween’ girl and a full-time childcare professional. I’ve lived in Kent for 10 years but originally I’m from Somerset. However, I’ve lived all over the UK and abroad and even spent some time working at sea! Travelling is my passion and Spain is my second home (and technically second language although I’m very rusty and can only really remember how to order alcohol in a bar…so essentials!).
Nowadays I spend much of my time ferrying the child to all her dance and drama activities but for fun we like to get out and about and particularly love exploring Kent or catching a musical in London.
I love the finer things in life although they tend to dislike my waistline! I also enjoy writing and find it a release in a stressful job. I was diagnosed with anxiety some time ago and decided to set up a blog and an Instagram/Facebook page (called The Sound of Motherhood) to document my parenting journey (highs and lows) as much a form of ‘therapy’ as for enjoyment. And that’s what has led me here, so thank you for having me and I look forward to writing about all things Kent!
Hi, I’m Lucy. I’m a thirty five year old mother of two boys, Nate aged nine and Leo who is seven and I am wife to Karl. We live in Whitstable having both grown up here and other than a brief interlude in Margate have never lived anywhere else. I love flowers, photography, rose wine, good food and a lovely view. I run my blog tiredfromwhitstable.com and an Instagram account of the same name. As a family we love days out, walking, having adventures and exploring our beautiful county. The boys also love football, motorsport, cricket and all manner of other ‘boy’ activities where I tag along hoping they have flowers for me to take pictures of! I am a massive believer in championing where we live and am so excited to be on the team writing for On the Doorstep. I am passionate about supporting local business and shouting from the rooftops about how amazing Kent is! Over the years I have written for a number of different platforms as well as my blog and I love writing about my family life most as it is a chronicle of our lives that I hope the boys will cherish as they grow up.
Hi fellow mums!
I’m a Kentish women born and bred, though I have lived in various locations in this fine land of ours. Like most women of my age, my life has not been plain sailing, there’s been twist, turns, ups and downs. Though, I am happy to report that at this moment in time, I am where I should be, rediscovering myself and creating my dream.
One of my passions, along with writing, is my photographic studio. Where I create modern portraits of every day people.
I’m over the moon to be contributing to this wonderful local magazine and connecting with more fabulous women.
Feel free to reach out as I love to connect.
